OMS PROCEDURES
FACIAL TRAUMA
In the unfortunate event of an injury to the face or mouth, an oral and maxillofacial surgery consultation may be necessary for diagnosis and treatment. Their broad-based and extensive dental and medical training in a hospital-based environment uniquely qualifies oral and maxillofacial surgeons to treat and repair injuries to the face, jaws, and mouth.
A number of different types of injuries may occur, including damage to teeth and surrounding structures, lacerations of the mouth or face, and facial bone fractures (jaws, cheekbones, nasal bones, and bones surrounding the eyes). Dr. Caso and Dr. Ash are on call at Providence St. Mary Medical Center for facial trauma emergencies, and are well-trained in the diagnosis and treatment of facial injuries.
In addition to emergent care and the diagnosis and treatment of acute facial injuries, a consultation with Dr. Caso or Dr. Ash may be necessary to discuss reconstruction and rehabilitation following facial injuries. Facial reconstruction is a complex process, often requiring multiple procedures to restore dental and facial harmony and function. Please don’t hesitate to contact our office with any questions or to arrange an appointment.
